Arriving in good time
During the festive season in December, traffic tends to get heavily congested in Ljubljana. Visitors are advised to leave home earlier than usual to avoid arriving late.
In implementing our event we adhere to the principles of health and well-being. As a venue that meets all the criteria laid down by the Slovenian Convention Bureau, Cankarjev dom was presented with the certificate “Safe and Healthy Meetings and Events”. Within the framework of this initiative, the Slovenian Convention Bureau, in cooperation with the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), defined safety and health standards at events or meetings. In meeting these standards, Cankarjev dom has imposed effective preventive measures, thus attaining higher levels of public health for event attendees and employees and curbing the spread of infectious diseases. In reaching the highest health safety standards for event attendees, we have additionally demonstrated our commitment to providing services of the highest quality.
To help ensure Cankarjev dom is a safe venue for everyone, visitors experiencing flu-like symptoms are strongly advised to refrain from attending events.
We strive to make culture accessible to all. We provide physically impaired people with access to most of our venues, and tickets for cultural and artistic events are free of charge for wheelchair-bound individuals (the number is limited).
Cankarjev dom has joined the providers of the EU Disability Card, which is part of the EU project "Improvement in the accessibility of goods and services for people with disabilities with the European Benefit Card".
As part of this initiative, from 1 September 2023, we offer holders of the EU Disability Card free admission to all Cankarjev dom exhibitions, ticket bookings for performances in all our venues, free tickets for accompanying persons (one companion per disabled person), and a 50% reduction in ticket prices for most events hosted within the framework of Cankarjev dom’s public service (not applicable to reduced prices for visitors aged under 25 and over 65).
For visitors with a hearing aid, Linhart and Kosovel Halls and CD Club are equipped with an audio induction loop, an assistive listening technology for receiving indoor or surround sound through a wireless signal picked up by the hearing aid. Guide dogs for the blind are allowed to enter our premises. Some of the events organised by Cankarjev dom are admission free, and free admission is offered to certain events and exhibitions in cooperation with organizations that work for the empowerment of the socially disadvantaged and vulnerable communities. Our catering partners donate leftover food to public kitchens.
The apples of a local sponsor, a permanent feature at our film festival LIFFe, have become the festival’s hallmark and an autumnal source of vitamins for all attendees.
In addition to caring for the environment, our sustainability orientation and commitment also include corporate social responsibility, i.e. being socially accountable to our employees, our partners and the public. We are conscious of the kind of impact we are having on all aspects of society, including social and environmental. We understand sustainability as caring for the environment and fellow human beings in the broadest sense. We very strongly believe in taking care of nature, of our community, and inclusion for all. We promote healthy living and a healthy workplace for our employees, touring artists and guests.
